RIP Fats Domino

October 27th, 2017

“We met Fats Domino, following on from a festival on Bull Island, on the Wabash River in 1972. We headed back to the hotel, in Kentucky, to find Fats was performing there! Rory, the band and I were enthralled and he was a completely friendly gent. Domino and his band were amazing, though the hotel venue was more a supper club and you'd wish to hear them in a 'honky-tonk' but it was a stroke of 'on the road' luck.

Later my brother paid homage to Fats in the track 'Cruise On Out' with the line "Well, the fat man plays that upright, freeze you at the knees, this man's in full control, of eighty-seven and one half keys.” RIP Fats.”
