Here's Tom's recollections:"Yes, that’s Rory and me in 1971, it was Salisbury City Hall. The line-up was Rory, Gerry and the most underrated drummer of all time apart from BJ Wilson, Wilgar Campbell. I’d met RG tons of times and I won’t say that we were friends, exactly, but he always welcomed me with a firm handshake and a few pints, plus a good long chat about, mostly, blues, guitars, audiences… like RG, I had played a great many gigs by 1971. When Taste played in Edinburgh, I saw him twice, at the Place and the Cavendish Ballroom, and we had a great chat and he signed things, including one of Ritchie’s bass string packets. At Sunderland ???? Club, we chatted in the dressing room and I played his old Strat for ages while he said hello to folk. Best of all was the Electric Ballroom in Glasgow, the epitome of violence, which was so feral that he suggested that I sit on his AC 30 for the whole gig to avoid being killed!!!!😂🤣. I did: I was deaf for a week but what a night. I did the same thing at Devizes Corn Exchange later. In Salisbury, I and a few others met the boys at the Star in Fisherton Street and we had a great chat and a pint or two. Then we took the boys to a restaurant no longer there and we had supper: all were incredibly polite and kind, and they commented on the Hendrix album being played. R and I chatted about Muddy Waters and his plans. Before the gig, Donal and I had a long talk in the Bull in Fisherton Street – no longer there. As always, he played a blinder. I was so impressed by Wilgar. A hug, and handshake." — Tom Thatcher RIP
