On this day in 1976 Rory and band played at the Sala Kongresowa in Warsaw, Poland. "Well, we were invited. I don't know why us. But a group calling itself the Polish Jazz Society asked us over. I thought, why not? Maybe we'll play Russia next year. We're negotiating deals with cultural groups in Vladivostok and Moscow. Playing Warsaw wasn't that much different from a large concert hall. The kids were awfully quiet, though. Very attentive and extremely polite." — Rory Gallagher, excerpt from May '77 issue of 'Rock' magazine.

Here's what Todd had to say:"I met Rory 38 years ago today…September 3, 1982 Green Bay Wisconsin (USA) Drive two hours to see Rory open for Rush…leave DURING Rush…friend says, let's stop in the bar at the hotel across the street…we walk in the packed bar, and I immediately see Rory and his band sitting at the bar!!! I was young and broke, only had enough to buy Rory a drink, he chose a shot of Tequila if I remember correctly, then got my picture with him and his autograph…went back to our table…nobody (except his band mates) were talking to him…an hour or two later when we were leaving we were walking down a hall to the door, I happened to look in a large empty room and Rory and his band were just sitting in there on a couch and chairs talking…WAY before cell phones, so I am SO lucky I ended up with this picture and his autograph!!!
