My deepest sympathies to Marie and the Jordan Family on Eddie’s passing.
It was with sadness that I learnt of Eddie’s passing earlier today, having met him here in Cape Town, just a few short weeks ago, when it was clear his health was failing him, nonetheless, the great man was in a good, jovial mood.
We chatted about music, recalling the time when Eddie and his lovely wife Marie supported a 606 Club (London), gig I put together for Chris Barber’s 73rd birthday (as part of a German documentary), luckily, I had a ‘rough cut’ of Chris’s gig, with Eddie and his friends in the footage and was able to share it with Jordan.
He told me of his recent jam with Mike and the Mechanics, in Cape Town, with Eddie telling me “I must have been mad to do it but they couldn’t stop me getting to the stage and on the drums.”

Eddie Jordan will aways remain a true Irish hero to me, not least because of the way he bravely battled his illness and publicly used his celebrity to highlight the issue of prostate cancer, urging men to seek early screening for the condition – may he rest in peace.
